Copa del Rey win Valencia CF's eighth of all time
Valencia CF's 2019 Copa del Rey win is their eighth in their 100-year history, and was a fitting climax to the club's Centenary season.
It brought an end to FC Barcelona's stranglehold on the competition, which they had won on the previous four occasions, and returned VCF's name to the trophy.
Captain Dani Parejo would dedicate the honour to those who had gone before, saying that "This has been a difficult, tough year, and the fans have supported us in every game. It's thanks to them. We also want to dedicate this to those who have been part of the last 100 years at Valencia CF, and who are no longer with us.
The list of Valencia CF's Copa del Rey triumphs is now:
VALENCIA CF and the Copa del Rey:
2019 FC Barcelona 1 – Valencia CF 2
2008 Valencia CF 3 – Getafe CF 1
1999 Atlético 0 – Valencia CF 3
1979 Real Madrid 0 – Valencia CF 2
1967 Valencia CF 2 – Athletic Club 1
