MATCH PREVIEW | VCF Mestalla looking for a win against Leicester City to change the dynamic
The reserve team faces its second match of the Premier League International Cup this Tuesday in England
VCF Mestalla lost out to a late goal in a 1-2 defeat to AE Prat on Matchday 7 of Grupo III-E in the Fase por la Permanencia in Segunda División RFEF. Fran Navarro opened the scoring for the team from the penalty spot, then played for the entire second half down to ten men due to a sending off for D. Ruiz.
Following two early chances -from a Fran Pérez cross met by Gozálbez, then a Fran Navarro ball that Emaná had blocked out for a corner- Gozálbez was pulled down inside the box. The referee signalled to the penalty spot, and Navarro stepped up to convert for his 11th goal of the season.
Gozálbez had a subsequent effort go just wide of the post, but from possibly doubling their advantage they found themselves level when a penalty was won and scored by Domi.
In the second half, VCF Mestalla began well, with D. Ruiz creating danger down the left. His contribution came to an end when he was shown a second yellow card for dissent, having placed the ball down for a free kick in the incorrect position.
Óscar Fernández brought on Ndombasi for Emaná, who was close to scoring the second goal for VCF Mestalla in a great individual move by F. García: He set up Ndombasi for a shot saved by Craviotto.
García had another shot saved by Craviotto as the game drew close to the end, before AE Prat struck late off a corner to snatch the win in stoppage time.
