Rubén Uría: "We are happy and capable of competing in our Champions League group"

The VCF assistant coach reacted to Thursday's Group Stage draw in Monaco

After Valencia CF's opponents for the 2019/20 UEFA Champions League Group Stage were drawn in Monaco, assistant coach Rubén Uría spoke to VCF Media to analyse the draw -which pits the club against Chelsea, Ajax and LOSC Lille.

"We have to compete and be optimistic. The group could have been tougher. We are happy and capable of competing. I think that it's a good draw for Valencia CF, and the away trips are fairly comfortable, with no long flights. That's important for a side like us who are involved in so many competitions," he explained.

"Now we have to look at the calendar, but the main thing is the first game. We have the experience of last year, in which we returned to the Champions League after two seasons away, and we are going to compete well from day one. The objective is to get through the group stage."

"Our group is difficult. Two of the teams are very young and dynamic, in Ajax and LOSC Lille, and we all know about Chelsea. There were other sides that we wanted to avoid, and we did that. The team are going to be ready to compete in LaLiga and the Champions League, but the first thing to do is go all-out for our first win on Sunday against RCD Mallorca," Uría promised.
