Unbeaten against Real Madrid in last two meetings

VCF have proved to be more than a match for their Supercopa opponents in recent encounters

The first challenge in the Spanish Supercopa awaiting Valencia CF comes this Wednesday, when they meet Real Madrid in the semifinal in Jeddah. They will be up against the side joint top of the LaLiga table, who have gone unbeaten in all competitions for nearly three months.

However, Valencia CF have not lost against Los Blancos in the last two meetings between the two teams, and have also performed strongly against sides such as Chelsea FC, AFC Ajax, Atletico Madrid and Sevilla FC since the start of the season.

Less than a month ago, they played Real Madrid at Mestalla on Matchday 17 of the LaLiga season. A Carlos Soler goal very nearly earned the three points for Albert Celades' side, but they would be denied a victory by a stoppage time strike from Karim Benzema (unavailable for Wednesday's game).

On Matchday 30 of the 2018/19 season, Valencia CF got the win against Real Madrid at home. Gonçalo Guedes and Ezequiel Garay were the players on the scoresheet on that occasion, as VCF took the 2-1 result.

At stake in Wednesday night's encounter is a ticket for the Supercopa final, against the winners of FC Barcelona vs. Atletico Madrid.
