MATCH REPORT | Draw between Real Betis and Valencia CF (1-1)
Rafa Mir, scorer of Valencia CF's goal in the final matchday of LALIGA, held at the Estadio Benito Villamarín
Real Betis and Valencia CF shared the spoils with a 1-1 draw in the Matchday 38 clash of LALIGA EA SPORTS, played this Friday at the Estadio Benito Villamarín. Antony put the hosts ahead in the first half, and in the final stages—just as Valencia were enjoying their best moments—Rafa Mir equalized, closing the 2024–25 season with a point.
In a tightly contested first half, Valencia's first real threat came in the 15th minute when Diego López delivered a sharp ball into the box for Sadiq during a counter-attack, but Real Betis managed to intercept it just before the Nigerian striker could turn and shoot.
The home side responded with a cross from Antony on the right and another from Isco, which ended in a shot by Fornals that sailed over the bar. Mamardashvili was called into action shortly after to save a shot by Isco, who had been set up with a through ball from Antony.
As the minutes passed, Valencia gained ground, with Javi Guerra, Diego López, and André Almeida linking up well in attack, but the goal eluded them in the first half.
The match continued at a measured pace, with both teams evenly matched, until the final moments of the first half when Betis capitalized on an isolated situation to win possession in Valencia’s half. They launched a swift counter, and Antony struck a precise shot to the far post from the edge of the area to make it 1-0.
After the break, Fran Pérez attempted a shot from the left that went wide. Both teams pressed on, with Betis creating a dangerous chance just after the hour mark, as Abde fired from the right and Mamardashvili made a superb diving save to deny a second goal.
Valencia enjoyed their best spell in the second half, and in the 74th minute, Rafa Mir leveled the score. André Almeida slipped a pass behind the Betis defense, and the forward finished with a low shot into the corner to secure the 1-1 result.
