match report: late duro goal earns 1-2 win over real madrid

Valencia CF snatch the win in the 95th minute on Matchday 30

Valencia CF took a hugely important 1-2 victory over Real Madrid on LALIGA EA Sports Matchday 30, scoring late through Hugo Duro in stoppage time at the Santiago Bernabéu. Mouctar Diakhaby had previously opened the scoring in the first half.

In one of the first actions of the game, the referee awarded a penalty to Kylian Mbappé after César Tárrega was adjudged to have fouled him. Vinicius Jr. took the spot kick but Giorgi Mamardashvili saved in a superb display of his reflexes.

Fifteen minutes in after another superb save from the Georgian goalkeeper, Valencia CF scored the first goal of the contest with a superb header from Diakhaby, rising highest in the box to make it 1-0 off a corner kick from André Almeida.

Minutes later, the ball ended up in the net for Real Madrid, but was ruled out offside. Mbappé then had a shot towards the far post that went just wide.

In the 36th minute, Mamardashvili was required again, off a powerful shot from the French forward.

After the break, Vini Jr. equalised from a set piece, making it 1-1.

Real Madrid increased the pace of play, trying to use their fullbacks and wingers, while Valencia CF enjoyed ample possession and tried to resist the attacks.

In the 67th minute, Mbappé struck wide after a run by Fran García down the left flank. Minutes later, after another move by the Mbappé, Fede Valverde shot from point-blank range in the six-yard box, but Mamardashvili produced a top stop.

In the closing moments, deep into stoppage time, Rafa Mir played in a cross for Hugo Duro, who struck home to take the 1-2 win and made Valencia CF only the second away team to win at the Santiago Bernabéu this season.
