Valencia CF and VCF Foundation to rebuild the Algemesí Municipal Stadium
Carmina Borrás, Deputy Mayoress of Algemesí: "We are more than grateful to the club and the VCF Foundation."
Valencia CF, through the VCF Foundation, have signed an agreement with Algemesí City Council and Racing Algemesí CF, a partner school of the VCF Academy, to carry out the reconstruction of the Algemesí Municipal Stadium, which was devastated by the DANA disaster.
Following the recent reconstruction of the pitches at the Jaume Ortí Municipal Sports Centre in Aldaia, the 'Mundial '82' stadium in Catarroja, and the Sedaví Municipal Sports Centre, more than 450 children from Algemesí will be able to enjoy football in the town again, with the reconstruction of the municipal ground.
This action is part of the "UNITS COM SEMPRE" charity initiative, which is supported by Valencia CF and the fans through donations and the club's contribution from the ticket sales for the match against Real Betis. The latter was matched by both the majority shareholder, Peter Lim, and Divina Seguros, Valencia CF's official insurer. Their collaboration is essential, as is that of other organisations and entities such as LALIGA -through EA SPORTS.
“It's a source of pride to be in Algemesí, signing the agreement with the City Council that will allow us to rehabilitate the football pitch where one of our partner schools, Racing Algemesí CF, play. It gives us the feeling of helping people from our community, and that's one of the greatest emotions you can feel as a person and as part of a football club so deeply rooted in the Valencia region. Seeing the gratitude with which we are received is, without a doubt, an honour for all Valencianistas and all the institutions that have helped make this possible,” stated Valencia CF General Director, Javier Solís.
Carmina Borrás, Deputy Mayoress of Algemesí, explained that “Algemesí needed to get its municipal stadium back. This will allow us to restore normalcy on a sporting level. Obviously, we are more than grateful to the club and the VCF Foundation. Without the municipal stadium, we would have had serious problems in enabling many teams to continue. One of the greatest joys we had upon learning of the support was how happy we were for our children in the municipality. It's time for Algemesí to take a break from this tough time, for people to enjoy themselves and celebrate. It's been a real lift for us.”
One of the schools benefiting from the renovation of the facility is Racing Algemesí CF, part of the Escoles VCF project. “Thanks to Valencia CF, our entire school (Racing Algemesí CF) and the other team in town (Algemesí CF) will be able to train here, starting next year. It will be a crucial development. We are very happy and grateful for the support given to us and for everything they are going to do for us and for the town,” said Racing Algemesí CF president, Toni Grande.
